Then there are builds like this Honda CB Seven Fifty, which successfully combine the best of both worlds. Starting from a platform already renowned for its reliability, this transformation shows how a carefully executed custom build can create a Café Racer unlike anything we're used to seeing.
Although the Honda CB Seven Fifty is one of the most popular choices for custom projects, very few truly stand out. Built by Leonel Ribeiro of Oficina das Motas in Portugal, this motorcycle is an excellent example of how the perfect balance of design, engineering, and handcrafted fabrication can elevate a classic platform to an entirely new level.

One of the most striking features is the fuel tank, sourced from a 1970s Honda CB750. Significantly shorter than the original Seven Fifty tank, adapting it proved to be a major challenge. To integrate it into the modern frame, a completely new tank base had to be fabricated and welded to the original shell. The result is a compact, muscular silhouette where every proportion appears to have been carefully designed from the ground up.

The rear section of the motorcycle also went through several stages of development before reaching its final form. Different concepts were tested before settling on a shorter, cleaner, and more aggressive tail section that perfectly complements the fuel tank and the bike's sporty stance. The result is a continuous line that reinforces the minimalist identity of a well-executed Café Racer.
Among the most distinctive details is the taillight, sourced from a Benelli Leoncino. Rather than simply being mounted at the rear, it was carefully integrated into the frame itself, creating an exceptionally clean and modern finish. It's a small detail that required many hours of fabrication but makes all the difference in the final result.

The front end is equally eye-catching. A Motogadget digital speedometer replaces the original instruments, while a perforated metal flyscreen fills the space between the gauge and the headlight. This custom-made component gives the motorcycle an industrial and aggressive appearance, making it one of the most distinctive features of the entire build.

Beneath its carefully crafted aesthetics lie equally significant mechanical upgrades. The wheels, inverted front forks, and complete braking system were adapted from a Honda CBR900, dramatically improving the motorcycle's handling and overall performance. Since the new front suspension differs in size from the original setup, it was also necessary to design and handcraft a completely bespoke top triple clamp to preserve the correct geometry and ride height.
The modernization also extends to the electronics with the installation of Motogadget's M-Lock system, eliminating the need for a conventional key while contributing to a cleaner and more minimalist cockpit.
Every detail of this Honda CB Seven Fifty demonstrates that a high-quality custom build depends not only on the components used but, above all, on how seamlessly they work together as a cohesive whole.
